My Front Yard

I don’t generally post photos from my everyday life on here, but the tree in my front yard is so amazing, and my kids were so darn cute this week that I just can’t help it.  Every year I think that Spring will never arrive – then, magically, one day I wake up  to this!

The light last Wednesday afternoon was amazing, so I bribed my kids with popscicles to sit on the sidewalk to snap a few photographs. You’ll notice my daughter is in her pajamas – she’s convinced that this is a “gymnastics uniform” and refuses to wear anything else these days. I adore photo sessions with kids being themselves and being able to capture a child’s personality forever with my camera.  But, I won’t lie – because it’s my own daughter,  part of me wanted to pause our session, dress her up and do her hair. I have to remind myself sometimes when I’m photographing them that my goal is to capture her how she is now, at three: a messy little spitfire in mismatched pajamas, who loves her brother more than anyone else in the world and likes to wear socks outside.

And you know what? I think I ended up liking this better than I would have if she was dolled up in a party dress after all!

Tobiah Tayo - Wedding Photographer Manchester - Gorgeous photos! That last one is soooo cute. One to realllly treasure!

Mark Kalkwarf - Looks like a pretty amazing day! Damn those flowers are pretty pink! I love the shot of your kids, the way the grass in the background keeps your eyes in the frame. Thanks for sharing.

Thomas Lester - Wow. That first shot is beautiful. What plant is that?

brooke trexler - @Thomas – it’s some sort of flowering tree, actually. I don’t know what kind.

Az - Too cute.

Natalie - Beautiful images! :) Loving that last shot!

Kelly Verdeck - Too cute. :) I started out taking photos of my kids, and I still do. If you have gorgeous models at home, why not take advantage, even if they’re in their mismatched PJs? :) Beautiful tree, too, that would be very cool to come home to.

Shyann - Awww.. how beautiful! :)

Leo Druker - Wow! I LOVE the flower shot – gorgeous colors and patterns. Oh – the kid shot is adorable :)

Katie Beach - I’ve often done the same bribe…. ;) The flowers are amazing… but your little ones steal the show. How cute!!

Avelaine Scyrup - Sweetness!! The kids are sooo cute! And I am so jealous of your flowers..it’s still snowing up here in Calgary =(

Saskia - That popsicle photo is so cute. Their expressions are priceless!
